Tecno Pova 5 is an affordable device that is sure to provide you with a rather punchy experience when it comes to gaming. The Camera app on this device tends to turn beautiful lighting into a dreadful watercolour effect. I have been using the Tecno Pova 5 as my main device and I feel that the absence of RAW images in the stock camera app has been a deal breaker. It is rather frustrating to keep on installing and trying out the various GCam ports to make the most out of this camera. But unfortunately, my efforts have only been met with a black screen, which I suppose, isn’t really helpful.
Things changed when I managed to discover a simple Magisk module workaround and by flashing this small file you can unlock your Pova 5’s 50MP sensor and by some sort of magic it grants Camera2 API Hardware Level 3 support. So my GCam ports are finally working. And thank God, it’s completely unobtrusive as it does not increase battery drain and does not patch any core Android files.
Here is exactly what this module brings to the table:
- Unlocks RAW (.dng) photo capture for GCam ports on Android,
- Forces full Camera2 API Hardware Level 3 support seamlessly,
- Safe and systemless Magisk module installation without modifying core files,
- Fixes common GCam black screen errors and processing crashes,
- Lightweight script with absolutely zero impact on device battery life,
- Universal compatibility across most Android devices and custom ROMs,
- Maximizes post-processing potential for mobile photography enthusiasts,
- Easily enabled or disabled directly via the Magisk Manager app,
This really revived my mobile photography. Now I’m importing my .dng files into Lightroom and the amount of shadow detail that’s brought out of the dark is just amazing, far more than the JPEG output from the camera. No PhD in computer science required. Flash the ZIP via Magisk, reboot Tecno Pova 5 and you’ll be taking far more presentable photos.
