Your phone’s battery seems to magically disappear even when you haven’t used it for ages. Closing all apps doesn’t help anymore – come 3 PM, you’re rummaging for your power adapter, confused as to where all your juice has disappeared to. There’s usually a cause behind this: unknown background processes or apps spending CPU cycles to throw the party of the year – without your knowledge.
So while there are already many modules that aim to solve this problem (such as Priority Priority), most of them operate on a very simple principle: find the worst app currently consuming system resources and kill it. The Frost Priority Magisk module works in a similar fashion, by granting system and background processes a lower priority in which to operate; but instead of immediately killing everything you don’t currently need open, it tries to give them a chance to remain slightly active before shutting them up.
Features:
- Reduces system wide CPU usage by optimising background processes.
- You can expect longer battery life thanks to “smarter background apps.”
- Dynamic process priority control for optimal performance.
- Keeps unwanted background wake-ups down.
- Improved standby efficiency and idle power savings.
- It optimizes system resource allocation in real-time.
- Running your machine at a lower CPU usage translates into a cooler device that requires a smaller cooler.
- Responsiveness is maintained for the current application.
- Stops excessive battery consumption caused by rogue background applications.
That makes sense. Limiting the phone to running only a subset of its functions should make it more battery efficient, and still fairly usable. It would also supposedly train the phone to focus on what’s really important, while weeding out irrelevant background activity that squanders battery power.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a Magisk module which means your device has to be ROOTED (ROOT ACCESS) first before installing. Always download from reliable sources, Magisk Modules as well as github threads. Although the overall goal of this module is for battery increase, real results actually may vary among different devices and different setups of different applications.
If you’re rooted then Frost Priority is a great tool for finding out why your battery life is constantly getting drained on your phone or tablet. It’s definitely worth a look for anyone who finds themselves screenshort of power at the worst times. It’s really very easy to use, just install, and then compare the info in the top row of numbers with your usual battery life, and the bottom numbers with your phone tucked away in quiet. It’s really great at pinpointing where your battery is leaking away to. After trying it out, I managed to bag an extra hour of gaming, which made it well worth the tiny cost.
