Calibrate SoC is an open-source performance tuner, hardware monitor, and benchmark suite for Android gaming handhelds and arm64 devices. It regulates CPU and GPU clocks via vendor bridges, Shizuku, or root to prevent thermal throttling, sustain stable frame rates, and extend battery runtime during heavy gaming sessions.

Technical Overview
On AYN, Retroid, and AYANEO handhelds, the application no need root requirements by routing sysfs kernel writes directly through built-in privileged system services (PServerBinder at uid=0 or the com.ayaneo.gamewindow AIDL overlay). On general arm64 devices, it resolves privilege tiers through Shizuku or libsu root access to adjust CPU cluster frequency caps, GPU devfreq floors, core parking, and uclamp scheduler hints, reflecting permission grants live within two seconds. A default-deny safety gate validates all node readbacks and blocks destructive system calls while automatically suspending tuning whenever foreground apps holding WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS or runtimes like Winlator take control.
Core Features of Calibrate SoC
- AutoTDP Governor: Operates a closed-loop utilization-band controller across 8 goal modes that reads live GPU busy percentages to adjust CPU caps, core parking, and
uclamphints while enforcing a 40% hard frequency floor and multi-zone thermal kill between 95°C and 105°C. - Whole-SoC Adaptive: Coordinates CPU clocks, CPU and GPU governors, memory bias, and three GPU overclock tiers (OFF, Within-Vendor, Beyond-Stock) from a single dial using 5 presets or custom performance, battery, stability, and thermal weights.
- Floating HUD: Renders a draggable
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOWoverlay in compact or verbose modes to track per-core MHz, kernel thermal zones, battery wattage, fan PWM duty, and display-rate FPS across Vulkan emulators and Winlator. - NDK Benchmarks: Executes Quick, Standard, and Full native C++ stress tests measuring integer, float, AES, RAM bandwidth, and draw-call ceilings alongside per-game Room database learning and hardware-specific fan curve floors.
Compatibility & Quick Setup
Requires Android 10 (minSdk 29) or newer on arm64-v8a devices — install the APK and grant live tuning permissions via Shizuku, root, or built-in handheld vendor bridges.
