So I managed to get my hands on a Runtime Control Module. This is literally a game changer.

What is this thing, anyway?

The Runtime Control Module is NOT an overclocker nor battery-eater. It is a patch that can be installed via Vexiro Manager or AxManager and is rooted free. The configuration is made through a simple volume-key interface (Volume Up to accept and Volume Down to skip).

This option allows you to adjust the amount of background processes and affect how the CPU schedules the execution of various tasks to help keep the frame rate of your game stable. Press Action to change this setting.

So I’ve been testing it out with a handful of very heavy games and I can definitely say that my system feels way more responsive.

The Standout Features

You might be tired of applications that, in order to crank out more processing speed, have to force your processor to burn more energy. If that was the case with this particular innovation, it would be nothing new, but what we’re dealing with here is quite different. According to the creators, this particular Smart Processor Scheduler manages and optimizes the processes that go through the CPU by learning how each app behaves in real time, so that more efficient handling of jobs can be put in place. In practice, that means several important things:

  • Background CPU Cleanup: Cuts through unnecessary background processes and resource use, to ensure your actual gaming experience is powered by as much CPU resource as possible.
  • Stable FPS Scheduling = Less Frame Drop
  • Real-time Interference Blocking Prevents background applications from “poking” the CPU during the heat of battle.
  • Smart Resource Allocation: Your foreground apps (the games) get VIP treatment.
  • Consistent Long-Session Performance: This helps avoid the annoying thermal throttling issue that happens after about 30 minutes of continuous usage.
  • Zero Aggressive Overclocking: Your device remains cool and stable to use.
  • Efficiency Balance: It manages to find that “sweet spot” between high performance and decent battery life.

My Honest Take

I’ve only had this for a week now, but my micro-stutters are pretty much gone. It seems that AMD finally got the message that I don’t want to be in the middle of a 1v1 and having background updates coming through. Efficiency is just as important as raw power.

If you’re looking for ways to smooth out the experience without getting into too much coding or rootcing and risking your warranty then look no further. This is probably the most reasonable adjustment you can make to the experience. Easy to change, it has a very noticeable effect, and it works as intended.
