Module Overview
OpenFG is an interpolated frame generation module that artificially multiplies in-game FPS for Android devices. Utilizing Zygisk, it forces frame doubling in supported OpenGL ES and Vulkan titles, requiring a companion app to toggle the effect on a per-game basis.
My Experience
I've been running this on my daily driver with a Snapdragon chip, and the hardware rendering handles heavy emulators like Winlator surprisingly well. You'll notice an immediate difference once that little on-screen FPS counter pops up, but keep in mind that I strongly avoid using it in competitive shooters like CODM due to the anti-cheat ban risks.
Core Features
- Hardware-level interpolation ensures Snapdragon devices get stable frame multiplying, though Mediatek users are currently stuck with software rendering.
- Track performance metrics directly on your screen by enabling the extended overlay to watch GPU temps and RAM usage while playing.
- HDR display support pushes past normal screen whites, giving you dedicated sliders for highlight boost and shadow depth on compatible panels.
- Emulator compatibility includes popular setups like PPSSPP and GameNative, but don't try it on Cemu just yet.
Support & Requirements
- Android Version: Android 10 or newer (Android 11+ highly recommended).
- Root Type: Magisk or KernelSU.
- Dependencies: Zygisk must be enabled.
- Hardware: arm64 or arm32 CPUs; Games must use OpenGL ES 3.0+ or Vulkan.
How to Install
- Flash the OpenFG Flashable Zip file through your Magisk or KernelSU app, then reboot your device.
- Install the companion OpenFG Apk like a normal application.
- Open the app, toggle the mod on for your specific offline games, and launch the game to trigger the FPS counter.
