Let’s face it: our phones can quickly turn into bloated digital storage containers, crammed with a mountain of cache, left behind by now-abandoned apps and services. I noticed my own iPhone had become painfully slow to switch between apps. So I decided to find out why this was happening, and what I could do to make my iPhone as fast as the day I first took it out of the box.

Clearing your cache can be a chore, especially if you came across an easier solution like the Monilith AxManager plugin that does it all for you, without even needing root access.

Here’s what it does for you:

• Clear app cache straight away without rooting your device.
• Safe cache cleaning via AxManager plugin integration – cache cleaning is performed within a trusted manager application.
• Unleash Your Device – Clearing out a few hundred megabytes of storage can boost your device’s performance.
• Cached Files Reducer– Reduces lag caused by cached files, to make your computer scroll and run apps faster.
• One tap cache cleanup for installed apps – Total Convenience to clean up cache of installed apps.
• Lightweight plugin – The plugin doesn’t consume too much system resources and won’t overcomplicate the problem it is intended to solve.

Just a quick plug for the AxManager plugin that allows you to cleanup your iPhone by removing unused app data. It’s very easy to use, you just open up AxManager, browse to the Plugin menu and select cleanup iPhone. I used it a couple of days ago and got back over 2GB of space back on my iPhone – which has freed up a lot of space on my iTunes library too as messaging, facebook and instagram apps have all reduced in size significantly. Camera app seems to load a little quicker too.

It won’t magically transform a dying mobile into a brand spanking new powerhouse. However it’s an easy trick to get into the habit of performing for any phone which will possibly give it a lease of life. I do it every month or so on my aging Galaxy SIII (when not able to upgrade) and it seems to hold its own quite well.
