So long lag! So long freezes! Nothing is more annoying than when you are in the middle of a gaming frenzy and your phone suddenly transforms into a toaster. But there’s good news for all you Shell Game players out there, because there’s now an app that promises to help you dodge those pesky laser beams without any lag-related issues.
The Shell Game Turbo app from Android developer Shell Game Turbo is relatively straightforward to use. For the most part, it just gives you a heads up on where to aim.

I’ve been using the product for a couple of weeks, and have applied it to a number of games.

Here’s what stood out in my testing:

  • It removes lag and frame drop. Yes, it actually works, even though I play a lot of Call of Duty: Mobile and experience massive lag while playing, it hasn’t happened since I got this app. My FPS has improved dramatically.
  • Background applications are muted. The typical noise of my background applications such as messaging, e-mail, and social media apps is usually something that hogs resources on my phone, but in this case, Shell Game Turbo puts those apps to sleep so that the game can use every ounce of the phone’s CPU and GPU power it needs to run well.
  • Faster game loads – By better optimising RAM usage, in-game loads are generally faster. Yes, there’s still a brief pause between unloading and loading a map, but it is slightly shorter than prior to the patch.
  • Better touch response on shots. It may be in my head, but it feels like the app does a better job of responding to your touches for shots, making everything slightly more accurate. The app still tends to run in a different trajectory than the iPhone game, but it feels more responsive.
  • Long term battery life optimization is smart. It doesn’t just spike your phone’s performance for a couple seconds only to shred battery life in 20 minutes like a poor man’s turbo boost like most apps do, and I’ve noticed my phone’s battery hasn’t dropped as sharply during hours of playing Genshin Impact.

It’s not quite a magic wand that will turn your budget phone into a premium device, but it is good at performing one of the trickiest tasks of optimising your phone to play games whilst also cutting down on CPU usage. There’s no invasive adverts or major setup issues, either.

My two cents: As a mobile gamer, I’d recommend this free software to anyone who wants a better gaming experience on their phone and is tired of the hiccups. It does a great job of giving your phone a “game mode” and it really works. The unit still runs a bit hot, but my gameplay experience got dramatically better after using this software.
