Module Overview

Castor Thermal is a specialized root module that automatically disables factory thermal throttling on Android devices. It adjusts temperature trip points and modifies system thermal rules to prevent artificial software limits from slowing down the processor during heavy workloads.

I tested this alongside the Encore base module to see how it handles extended gaming. Under the hood, it spoofs battery temperatures and rewrites specific Mediatek rules, which visibly stopped frame rates from tanking when the phone started getting warm. The tweaked trip points let the hardware run hard without immediately shutting down CPU cores.

  • Battery temperature spoofing tricks the system while using Performance Profiles to stop heat-triggered slowdowns.
  • Adjusted trip points kick in for Balanced Profiles, keeping the phone stable without crippling daily speed.
  • Custom Mediatek rules use dedicated PPM configurations to better manage thermals on MTK-powered devices.
  • Cleaned property settings strip away restrictive system files to let the processor run at its intended capacity.

Support & Requirements

  • Supported Root: Magisk, KernelSU, or APatch
  • Base Requirement: Castor strictly requires you to install either Encore (version 4.5 or higher) or AZenith (version 3.4 or higher) for the thermal modifications to work.

How to Install

  1. Flash either the required Encore or AZenith base module in your root manager.
  2. Flash the Castor Thermal .zip file.
  3. Reboot your device to apply the new thermal rules.
