I feel like we all treat our battery life as though the battery itself will last for ever and it’s never an issue until our battery has dropped to 2 hours or less and our phone becomes as useful as a deflated spicy pillow. I’ve ranted and ranted on about battery life and battery cycles but since I rooted my device and installed Charger Control, I’m now less bothered by the state of my battery.
If you are rooted with Magisk, KernelSU or APatch, you probably know what root is all about. And if you ask me, this app is the best value if you plan to keep your phone for more than a year.
Why This App Actually Rocks
I’ve tried a gazillion “battery savers” and none of them ever did anything – if not plain useless, then just dumb or simplistic feature sets, but Charger Control actually talks to hardware which actually makes a difference:
- Smart Charging Limits So I’ve got my charging limit set to 80%. And honestly, it just cuts off power when it hits that threshold. So my battery doesn’t spend the day slowly cooking away at 100% capacity.
- Bypass Mode: This is the holy grail of mobile gaming. When you are charged in, the power goes directly to your phone, bypassing your battery and potentially reducing heat and strain.
- A real Foreground Service: no need to reopen the app all the time to keep limitations enabled.
- Real-time Stats: You get the actual sensor data like milliamps (mA), voltage and temp. Which is infinitely more useful and accurate than a generic good or bad health status based on your settings.
- Modern Vibes Root apps have looked the same since about 2012. AmiMask comes with Jetpack Compose and Material 3 so it really does look modern.
My Honest Take
So I have been messing with my new battery cap for a couple of weeks now and here are my first hand observations. The initial first day or so after the installation I noticed a slight improvement in battery life. Now after two weeks though, I believe the biggest thing I have noticed is how much cooler my phone is. We all know heat is a major factor to the longevity of any electronics. With the cap in place and going into bypass mode when I’m streaming video or playing games the phone has been running very cool.
Simple. No cleaner ads. Does what it says. Root and you’re an idiot if you don’t install this app. Don’t let your battery drain past a certain point before you get smart about how you treat it.
