Features
Let’s break down the module’s core features and their impact:
1. Delete Unnecessary Garbage Files
Your Android phone probably has a lot of junk lying around: residual APKs, corrupted downloads, ad caches. This module deletes that crap from a variety of folders on your phone, including /data/local/tmp and /sdcard/Android/data. I cleared a couple of gigabytes of crap from my Note 4 just now.
2. Wipe Dalvik Cache
The Dalvik cache stores some optimization data about your apps to help them run faster. Rebuilding the cache after installing updated apps can help them run faster. But entries in the cache can become out of date and cause apps to run more slowly over time. This Add-on clears the Dalvik cache so Android can rebuild it from scratch.
3. Clean Dropbox System Logs
The Dropbox error logs are found in /data/system/dropbox and are unlimited in size, so you can delete them to free up space to remove some of the background processes.
4. Temporary & Tombstone File Removal
Cache dir files (/cache) and tombstones (crash logs, /data/tombstones) are deleted to prevent storage waste and PII exposure.
5. Eliminate Empty Folders & Thumbnails
We also remove empty directories and thumbnail caches such as .thumbnails off your SD card freeing up space.
6. System-Wide Cache Cleanup
Clears cache aggressively from /data/cache and /data/dalvik-cache. Leaving you with a very lean system.
What Users Are Saying
- Case Study 1: Our first real test case comes from Reddit user u/TechieGalaxy. In a comparison using a Samsung Galaxy S10, the user notes an increase of 25% in boot time.
- Case Study 2: XDA forum member @PixelMaster managed to free up a considerable amount of storage space, no less than 8GB, after discovering and deleting Dropbox logs and tombstones on his device.
Expert Opinion:
“Clear Optimization is very cool. Magisk modules in general are really powerful. This Clear Optimization module does a very good job in cleaning up optimization data left behind by default apps. Some default apps can’t be uninstalled or cleansed, so this is very powerful and helpful.”
