The Nexus Media Root Module is a Magisk and SuperSU modification designed to replace default custom ROM ringtones, notifications, system UI sounds, and boot animations with original Nexus device media. It operates systemlessly or via an addon.d script to survive ROM updates.

Custom ROMs often pack terrible default notification tones that drive me crazy. Flashing this module instantly swapped out that cheap-sounding UI media for the clean, nostalgic pings from the Nexus 6P and 5X. It’s a subtle tweak, but it makes AOSP-based daily drivers feel much more polished.

  • Complete media replacement for custom ROMs, swapping out basic default alarms, ringtones, and UI clicks.
  • Survives dirty flashes using an included addon.d script if you opt for a hard system install.
  • Original Nexus files get pulled directly from classic hardware, including the Nexus 5, 5X, 6, 6P, 7 (2013), and 9.
  • Boot animation support is baked in, letting you drop the classic Google loading screens onto your current ROM.
  • Renaming the zip allows you to trigger specific media choices and target different device profiles right at flash time.

If you hate the stock sounds on custom Android builds, this is the easiest way to get that classic Google vibe back. It’s a highly recommended module for anyone who misses the Nexus era of Android.
